Dr. Mitchell Brown, B.Sc., M.D., M.Ed., F.R.C.S.C., attended medical school at the
University of Western Ontario in London, Ont. He graduated with a medical degree in
1988, and was the recipient of several awards including the gold medalist of his
graduating class. Dr. Brown then completed a comprehensive Surgical internship at the
Toronto Western Hospital followed by a five year residency in plastic surgery at the
University of Toronto. In addition to this, Dr. Brown completed a Masters in Education
and was involved in developing new techniques to teach and evaluate technical
performance in the operating room. In 1994, Dr. Brown became a fellow of the Royal
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in plastic surgery.
Dr. Brown opened his plastic surgery practice in 1995, at Women's College Hospital.
His clinical interests are in the areas of aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery,
body contouring and cosmetic surgery.
Because of his interest in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, Dr. Brown is
called upon frequently to speak on the topic as well as teach other surgeons his
surgical techniques.
Dr. Brown is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of
Toronto. He has published numerous articles in the field of plastic surgery,
predominantly in the area of aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. He has been
invited to lecture on many of these subjects both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Brown is on active staff at Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences
Center and North York General Hospital in Toronto.
He is a member of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Canadian Society for
Aesthetic (Cosmetic) Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the
Ontario Physician's Association and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of
Canada.
Dr. Brown has also been quoted extensively in the media as a spokesperson on issues
of plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. His interviews have included
appearances on CBC Radio, CBC television, CITY TV, The Life Channel and Canada
AM.
