Some of the recent letters received at our office:
I had my surgery with Dr. Mitchell Brown on May 25, 2011. I wanted the best. When I was researching Plastic Surgeons in the GTA and came across Dr. Brown, I couldn't look elsewhere. His credentials are outstanding. I booked my consultation with him (I was on a cancellation list and got in quicker). My husband and I met with Dr. Brown on April 19th. I clicked with him right away. He was upfront and honest about everything. Not only did he tell me all the good about having a BA but he also told me about risks. I felt very comfortable with him. Breasts are his passion and you can tell this right away. And I wanted the best dealing with my poor empty breasts after breastfeeding.
I booked my surgery that same day for May 25th. I met again with Dr. Brown 2 weeks before my surgery. This was when we decided on the type of implant and size. I was so excited.
The day of surgery I was so nervous. My husband and I got to the Cumberland clinic a half hour early. It's such a nice clinic. The waiting area looks like a waiting area for a spa. I was greeted by a nurse. This is where I said bye to my husband. I was brought into a room and got changed. Soon after I met with Dr. Brown, he did his drawings, answered all of my nervous questions and reassured me everything would be great.
When I woke up from my surgery, a nurse named Helen was there. Helen is amazing. A sweet angel taking care of you. I didn't worry one bit when I was in her care. She treats you the way she would her own child.
The next day a nurse called me to check up on me and to answer any questions I had. The entire staff at Dr. Brown's is great.
I am 26 days post op and I must say that my breasts look amazing. They are exactly what I wanted them to be. All I did was tell Dr. Brown what I was looking for and he did the rest. I have VERY natural results and people that don't know I've had a BA wouldn't believe it as my breasts already look so full and natural. Dr. Mitchell Brown, in my opinion, is top of his field. Thank you so much Dr. Brown for the beautiful results you have given me. I am beyond thrilled. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a PS in the Toronto area.

From the very first contact with Dr. Brown and his staff I have been so impressed. The whole experience has been so very positive. The staff are so professional and kind, just a true reflection of Dr. Brown himself. The most unbelievable part is the wonderful natural results!! -- Susan
Dr. Brown is the only surgeon I would recommend for breast augmentation or any other procedure. I am a nurse and I work with my husband who is also a surgeon, practicing in a menopause and gynecology office. We send all of our patients interested in a plastic procedure to the best... Dr. M. Brown. -- Gayle
Dear Dr. Brown:
I just wanted to send you a note with some comments about my recent breast augmentation surgery. I did my research about breast implants and knew a fair amount going in. I booked consultations with four doctors. You were my last visit. Until I went to your office, I had pretty much decided against the procedure. I disliked the bordello atmosphere of some offices, and found the staff and doctors that I had spoken with somewhat impatient and uninformed. When I heard you speak and understood where you were coming from, I felt instantly comfortable with the procedure, results, and level of expertise. These new breasts were something I had wanted for a long time and I wanted the best result. The procedure itself was a little more painful than expected. The only thing I would have liked to change was knowing a little more about the minor twinges I was feeling throughout the healing process. I know now these are normal. I am absolutely pleased and satisfied with the procedure and the process and procedure were exemplary. I thank you. -- Sincerely, Beth
The following letter was submitted to a patient information breast implant website:
I feel great. I have been back at work for two days now. Yesterday, I went the whole day without any Tylenol. It was great. I can't believe how much easier each day gets. Phew! Dr. Brown was amazing. Just before the anesthesiologist put the IV in, I told him I hated needles and he held my other hand while it was going in. Then during recovery, he must have come in a dozen times to check on me. I was the first surgery of the day and another girl was after me. I think her name was Julia. I had a dizzy spell the first time I got up and he happened to walk in the room while I was sitting down trying to get over it. He came over and rubbed my back while he was talking to the recovery nurse. Her name was Maria. She took really good care of me. All-in-all, the experience exceeded my expectations. I was calm before the whole thing because I just trusted I was in good hands. -- Cherie
Dear Dr. Brown:
I thought that you might like this letter about how I felt during my breast augmentation process. When I was researching the surgery, I found that the more information I could find, the better. Feel free to use this for helping to inform other women considering surgery.
I had always thought about breast implants but it was not until I had all my children that I really started to feel that I wanted to explore my options. I was an A cup with great shape and tone but that does change when you have children.
I spent a tremendous amount of time on the internet and on chat lines to get all my information. I loved reading other peoples stories of their postop as well as why they made the choice to have or not have implants.
I knew I was finally ready when I did not feel that I needed to seek approval from my friends or family. I knew it was the right choice and decided to keep my decision between me and my husband.
I first called a few doctor's offices for price and consultation information. I had a specific date in mind that would work for me. I met with Dr. Brown about a month before I wanted the surgery. I knew once I met with Dr. Brown that he was the surgeon for me. He listened carefully to what my expectations were and was honest with me in terms of what I could expect as a result.
I brought pictures so he could get an idea with me of size. I chose not to go too big - I wanted to be a B cup. We spent a lot of time discussing my options and breast implants. Dr. Brown suggested that I would be a good candidate for cohesive gel implants. They were more expensive but for my breast size and shape, they would be the most natural. We also decided to go under the muscle. I knew people would see a difference but I did want the most natural result I could have. Dr. Brown explained the procedure to me in a clear manner. I was ready to book the surgery and looked forward to my date.
I continued to read and do research on the internet and did have a few questions before my surgery, but found Dr. Brown's office receptive and helpful with my phone calls. Dr. Brown had me come in for another appointment just before surgery to give me a chance to ask any further questions, and to tell me all that I needed to know to get ready for the big day. I was given a list of what to do, and not do, before surgery.
I went shopping for a comfortable sports bra. I bought one that zipped up in the front for comfort as I thought that would be the easiest to get on and off, and then two more cotton ones with no underwire but lots of support. I also bought a pair of pajamas where the button was button down so I did not have to pull anything over my head.
I put at least six small water bottles by my bed so I could take my meds without asking anyone for water and I knew it would be good to drink as much as I could during the first few days. I loosened the cap on all of them so they would be easy to open.
Most of the websites have tips for post breast augmentation and I found them very helpful to prepare myself as well as my household to make my recovery faster.
I was booked at the private clinic for first thing in the morning. When I arrived, a nurse greeted me and showed me where to change and gave me a fluffy bathrobe and slippers. She told me Dr. Brown would be in to see me soon. The clinic was very warm and welcoming and helped me to calm my preoperative jitters. Dr. Brown came in and asked if I had any more questions and then he started to do the markings for the surgery. After that, I had to wait a little bit more and the anaesthetist came in to ask me some questions before my surgery. Before I knew it, a nurse came in to get me and I walked to the OR. Dr. Brown was there in the room and when I was going to sleep. I found that very comforting.
When I woke up, I was in the recovery room with a nurse. I remember reading that slow deep breaths will help you ease the pain and keep you calm when you wake. I focused on breathing and the pain was not that bad. I felt it between my breasts but it was not sharp just like when you have the flu with muscle aches. I am sure everyone is different. The nurses made sure I had water and checked on me regularly (the staff at the clinic was great and really helped to make me feel relaxed). Dr. Brown came in quite often to check on me and to make sure that I was comfortable.
When they told me I had to get up to go to the washroom that was a bid scary. A nurse was there to help and once I got up I felt much better. After a few hours I was able to go home. I did not find the ride difficult or painful. The breathing and the focus on breathing really helps. I had to take it slow to go upstairs and get settled in bed. I left the clinic in my pajamas so I did not have to change when I got home. I just crawled into bed. It helps to have a lot of pillows around to prop you up to be comfortable.
When I was finally settled, my biggest problem was how was I going to get out of bed again. Surprisingly, it was not so bad. I found partially rolling on my side and then putting my feet out of the bed close to the floor the best way. Trust me, you will be able to do it without too much help.
I am now four and a half months following surgery and I feel wonderful. This was a great decision. It really took me about one month to get back to feeling like I had not had surgery, but overall the recovery was easier than I expected.
The cohesive gel implants were a great choice. They feel very soft and I think that my breasts look extremely natural. My friends seem to think so as well (I have now told them). I am wearing clothes that I was not really able to fill out before, and I just had a great time shopping for new bathing suits.
Dr. Brown, I can't thank you enough. I am thrilled with my results. Your clinic and office staff have made this a very easy process and have dealt with me in a very professional manner.
Thank you again. -- Sincerely, Andrea
Dear Dr. Brown:
I wanted to thank you for everything. I started looking into breast augmentation about 3 years ago and after researching and talking to different people, I came across your name and website (P.S. The new website is so informative, it's great!).
I really wanted this done but 3 years later I was still so scared and unsure whether I should do this. You took all of that away the first day I spoke to you on the phone. You made me feel so comfortable about everything and the worries disappeared. I knew you knew what you were doing and what was best so I left it in your hands to which the results turned out great. Mia was also such a great help and was so understanding every time that I emailed her another question or concern. The ladies at The Cumberland Clinic were also really nice especially the recovery nurse, she really took good care of me in recovery. You have a really great team. Thank you again for everything? Once again…thanks!
From a very happy patient... Fiona
Hello Dr. Brown:
It has been a little over two weeks since my surgery and I can honestly tell you that I am thrilled with the results. I have experienced very little pain and the bruising has disappeared. The scars are so small and done so well you can’t see them at all.I truly can’t believe the improvement so far. You stated in one of our consultations that you would be able to improve my appearance by about 50%. From my opinion, it has improved by 100%. You are truly an artist and I am so glad that I chose you. Not only was your staff and the staff of the Cumberland Clinic truly professional, they and yourself are highly skilled individuals.
I will be recommending you to all of my friends who are contemplating cosmetic surgery.
Again, I can’t thank you enough for providing me with the opportunity to improve my appearance to this degree.
Kindest regards, MM
